International Girls in ICT Day, is an initiative by ITU (International Telecommunications Union), aiming to create a global environment that empowers and encourages girls and young women to consider careers in the growing field of ICTs, enabling both girls and technology companies to reap the benefits of greater female participation in the ICT sector. International Girls in ICT Day is celebrated on the 4th Thursday in April every year, which fell on the 25th of April this year.

In this regard, the Department of Information Technology and Telecom marked the Girls in ICT Day today with a basic training in photoshop for selected female students from local schools.
