Mandates

  • Responsible for fostering and promoting the utilization of cutting-edge technologies in the country.
  • Enable more active participation in global forums in the area of technology governance and promote our national interests in that context.
  • Develop legal framework (policy, strategy and plans etc.) in the emerging areas like AI, AR/VR, IOT, Blockchain, Robotics, Computer Vision, Drones, etc.. in collaboration with the stakeholders
  • Forecast and advise on the life span(obsoleteness) of current technologies in place.
  • Conduct R&D to determine appropriate technologies and systems suitable to unique Bhutanese conditions.
  • Provide an advisory role to the government for right investment in the domain areas.
  • Liaise with other international and national stakeholders (dhi, educational institutions, multinational companies etc… ) area of R&D.
